Editor in Chief

Jan Suk

Besides being the editor-in-chief of the Hradec Králové Journal of Anglophone Studies, Jan Suk it the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové. He has taught, lectured and published internationally (Stanford University, King’s College, Roehampton, Leeds, Konstanz, Porto), and academically performed in Sri Lanka, Greenland, Nepal, Cyprus, Slovakia etc. on immersive theatre, Live Art, Gilles Deleuze & performance, especially within English context. His most recent research interests include performance and/as pedagogy stemming from the rich practices of contemporary British experimental, predominantly focusing on the theatre Forced Entertainment.

Bohuslav Mánek

Bohuslav Mánek is Professor of History of English and American Literature currently teaching at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové. He formerly also lectured at the Universities of Pardubice, Silesia (Opava) and Worcester (England). He is the author of První české překlady Byronovy poezie (First Czech Translations of Byron’s Poetry, 1991) and book chapters and articles in monographs, scholarly journals and conference proceedings on Czech reception of Shakespeare, Romantic poetry, G. M. Hopkins, James Joyce, H. G. Wells and others (Continuum Press, Peter Lang, Karolinum, etc.), and on Czech translations and translators from English, e.g. E. B. Kaizl, V. A. Jung, V. Mathesius, and others. He contributed over 200 items to Slovník spisovatelů: Anglie...Wales (An Encyclopaedia of Writers: England...Wales, 1996, 2003). His other publications include over 200 translated poems from contemporary British and American poets published in literary magazines and anthologies.

Helena Polehlová

has been a member of the editorial board of HKJAS since 2013. She currently teaches at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové. She is also a Ph.D. candidate of Medieval Studies at the Department of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno. Her field of research is early medieval Anglo-Latin literature, especially hagiography, and Anglo-Saxon and Medieval English literature.

Františka Schormová

Františka Schormová currently teaches at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, University of Hradec Králové. She is also a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of Czech Literature, Czech Academy of Sciences. Her dissertation "African-American Poets Abroad: Black and Red Allegiances in Early Cold War Czechoslovakia" defended at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, has won several awards including the Jan Palach Award (Faculty of Arts, CUNI) and received an Honorary Mention, Charles Bernheimer Prize (American Comparative Literature Association). Dr. Schormová has held competitive fellowship positions at home and abroad (including her stay as a Fulbright-Masaryk scholar at Harvard University in 2017/2018). Her texts regularly appear in the Czech media (A2, Tvar, Revue Prostor, Plav) and she takes part in public discussions and lectures. In her research, she uses a transnational perspective to study race during the Cold War, especially in connection to literature and culture and the issue of translation.
